臺鐵年鑑主要的內容為以 插畫設計 來呈現數據、活動、貢獻、事蹟等…以告訴社會大眾這一年來臺鐵的進步及成果內容。
The main content presented in the Taiwan Railways 2018 Annual Report is data, activities, contributions, deeds, etc. … to tell the public about the Taiwan Railways’ progress and achievements over the past year.
利用 插畫設計 作為整本視覺設計主軸。封面設計採具有溫度的手繪線條，搭配鮮豔的色彩，讓整體感覺生動活潑有溫度；封底則為未上色的復古風格，與封面呈現過去與未來的對比。構圖上火車車體從舊到新行駛，表現了臺鐵到成長與進步，過去的回憶跟未來的進步都是美好的。背景畫出台灣各地的景點，表現出臺鐵串連整個台灣、串連著我們，與我們的生活密不可分。
Illustration is the main axis of the visual design of the whole annual report. The cover design adopts warm hand-painted lines and bright colors to make the annual report livelier and warmer; the back cover is an unpainted retro style. Showing a contrast between the past and the future with the back cover and the cover.
In the composition, showing the old to the new of train bodies, present the growth and progress of the Taiwan Railways, the memories of the past and the progress of the future are wonderful. The background draws the scenic spots all over Taiwan, showing that the Taiwan Railways links the whole of Taiwan, and are inseparable from our lives.
章節頁設計理念為該章節所揭露的內容。icon部分則為台灣由南到北的主要車站，除了新北車站外，其他皆是舊車站外觀。頁眉為火車抵達各個車站及即將前往下一站之意象。
年鑑分別設計了中、英文兩種語言版本，整本像敘述故事一般，帶領讀者從以前到現在到未來，看著臺鐵一路上的進步與成長。
The chapter page design idea is the content disclosed in the chapter. The icon part is the main station from south to north in Taiwan. Except for the Xinbei Station, the others are the appearance of the old station. The headers are images of trains arriving at each station and about to go to the next station.
The annual report is designed in two languages, Chinese and English. The whole report is like a story, leading readers to watch the progress and growth of Taiwan Railways from the past to the present.
